hmm, nj's chinese new year celebration wasnt all that chinese. there was exchanging of mandarin oranges immediately after assembly, but band ppl didnt really get involved coz we juz played for morn assembly n our oranges were in band rm. so we had to stand n wait for the exchange to b over...
then i joined part of my class for the human sculpture comp. we were forming the fu2 word n i had to lie on the floor. my bones ached...
lionel n gerard did cross dressing! wore pinafore! haha, we took lots of photos of them. n every1 else was talking abt how gay they were. haha
i hadnt completed my physics assignment which was due today so i had to do it b4 handing the whole stack up for edwin (the phy rep) coz he was going back to acsi. luckily pam accompanied me.
after coming home, i went with mom to pay respects to grandpa at paya lebar. sooo far... luckily we took taxi. i slept on the way there n back... pig... haha.
then after hvg lunch at 3pm at grandma's place, i went to laura's house to give her pineapple tarts.
back at home, i cleaned my clarinet (boy was it dirty!)
i went for 4/10 gathering today! njc ppl initially told me it was 11am but later laura told me it was 12pm.
then at abt 11.30am, huiling call me. haha, so i was late coz it was actually 11am. haha, but nvm. only 18 ppl (half the class) turned up. hope there will b more the next gathering
we ate at pastamania. i shared with laura coz scared cant finish. then suddenly i heard someone calling my name from the centre (i was sitting at the end of the group). then they were laughing. i didnt noe wat was goin on until later on, they said that alot of ppl at nj were asking abt me. then i was quite puzzled n asked is their alot like 1 only... sighz... there's sth abt me n i dont even noe abt it... hope it isnt sth bad...
then we went to civics centre. i think 3/4th level where there's no one else so we can sit down n talk. wanxuan was 'appointed' the leader of njc's scandal society (so i think she's the one who said ppl were asking abt me). then every1 talked alot. got to noe abt the other jcs. nj, vj, sa, hc, rj all fun. then casie complained abt aj. hmm, phew, luckily i didnt heed my parents advice to go aj and went nj instead. yay, lucky me :)
then amanda was telling us abt the hcjc communist song n the funny cheers. then the hc ppl did their mass dance, n some nj ppl oso did ours.
the gathering was rather short, ended at abt 2/3pm. then they were suggesting to have a class chalet at kim's big 3 lvl house.
i went for band in the morn, then on the mrt, i was reading some article abt promoting liver health then the person sitting next to me suddenly talked to me. then she oso asked abt ms anna fu. hmm, mayb ms fu was a very gd teacher in the past, so out of the many teachers, only her was mentioned. i oso figured out the person is a ex-ny girl.
hmm, strangers seem to like to talk to me... from young to old, male to female... haha
at band, cleopas helped me change for a better instrument n i managed to play more then what i did on wed even though the condition of my ulcers was worse. but the better instrument wasnt much better. sighz, the snrs didnt take gd care of the instruments... how i wish i had my nycb clarinet. hmm, can i buy it over from nycb? how i wish...
i found out that my aqua house captain, sean is actually from band! isnt that cool! but he n the other snrs called him bobby (probably some private joke of sorts) n he was labelled gigolo bob. haha, so weird.
then band prac ended at abit b4 1pm n the conductor, prof ho talked to the year1s.
after that, we had refreshments. the sandwiches were delicious! n the hotdogs got wiped out even b4 i had any.
then the orientation began!
we played whacko, eat the banana (that's hanging high up dere n cant use ur hand) n arrange ourselves according to ht/bdae while staying on a long line of chairs.
whacko was really funny, n the snrs kept sabotaging one another. every1 was laughing throughout the whole game.
then for the eat the banana, i was in the same grp as my section mate, timothy who was appointed the banana eater. another grp mate, phil, had to carry timothy on his shoulders while timothy had to eat the 3 bananas without touching them with his hands. so the banana eaters are supposed to peel off the skin using the teeth then eat the meat. however, timothy was really super!! he just ate the banana together with the skin!!! n of course was the first to finish eating the banana! so our group won! all thanks to timothy.
for the arrange ourselves according to ht/bdae while on the chairs game, i was a bit fortunate that i didnt have to move from one end of the line to the other coz that was what some poor fellows had to do. eg sean who was at one end but had to move pass dozens of people to the other end coz the end where he initially was at was the short people's end n he was tall. then he had to move back to the first end again for the bdae one coz he is a jan baby.
then the ppl who accidentally got their legs on the grd had to do a forfeit. there were 4 guys n a gal so the forfeit was that each of the guy had to think of innovative ways of proposing to the gal. then one of the guys was the gal's (yr2) younger bro (yr1) so it was like *dots*... haha
so orientation ended at 3+pm. then on my way home, i helped a handicapped man. :) so i treated myself to an icecream cone though i was abit sick (phlem, ulcers). haha
shall talk abt todae. 1st time at nj band prac. n i had stupid ulcers... 1 on my tongue ( n it bled... ) n 1 on my lower lip...
hence i cldnt play... sighzzz
ah!!! NJC orientation 2004 has finally ended! i think it has been the most tiring n physically enduring n voice killing week of my entire life! haha, we had fun but the main thing was exhaustion. too much activity for a lazy gal like me... haha
n i finally checked my mail after 1whole wk n there's 50+ new mails mostly idiotic irritating peverted junk!
anyway, back to the orientation. tues... we got to meet our house captain n the other house reps. then i was pull out to play a game in front of everyone. was so scared it was a facing throwing game. luckily not tt bad, juz pass actions (to describe a celebrity) from start to end n the last person guess who the celebrity is. then later it was bad... got war games... so violent... until i cried... so bad
initially i was participating in it... throwing water bombs ard... then the gals in my clan (corinth) was surrounding a tree to protect it to make the other clans think our flag is there (when its somewhere else much safer) so the other clans started attack the gals ard the tree. ppl started pulling them away from the tree with much force causing pain. i was juz standing near that tree n a grp of gals came along to get my sock (its supposed to b a life line u stuff into the back of ur shorts n if it gets pull out, u hv to go to the torture chamber). some pull at me trying to get my sock by grabbing me n it was really painful...
n my ogl xiaomin said a guy even pulled open her shorts so tight that it hurt n look in n said how come no socks when xiaomin already told him that ogls cant b killed. such a peverted guy...
haiz... stop talking abt tt
then at nite, we had og dinner at takashimaya. oso played truth n dare... then got home at 9+... super tired
wed... we had intro lectures in the morn, then shop 4 bbq stuff then bbq n dance party!!! haha. i did dance! after bbqing! our bbq failed... coz the guys didnt eat much... loads of leftovers... dont noe y they ate so little...
then it ended at 8+pm, n it was dark... n we had to walk the lllloooonnnnggggg way out of sch for the 1st time.
thurs... most of the time was spent on the playhouse. we were supposed to come up with our own skit n the theme was 'olympia: let the games begin'. after we were dismissed, we even prepared for the skit from 5-8pm... coz we failed the vetting n got scolded... mr whitby said, "the 12minutes were the worse 12minutes of my life!!! it was like hell!!!" so the ogls kept trying to cheering us up. but i dont think we were as greatly affected as they think we are.
oh man, my seniors really ROCK!!! nj doesnt stone, we ROCK!!! (haha, that's wat xiaomin, my ogl, who is oso so coincidentally from my sister class during sec1, emphasised) it would hv been even better if my og esp the guys were more enthu. haha, we thot we cld stone in nj so we came but in fact, nj rocks. at least the ogls rock. maybe the rest of the school may not but the ogls definitely do.
it was a long day today. 7.40am to 6pm with a lunch break of abt 40min. by 5pm, we were really tired n my brain n eyelids felt heavy.
ah, i shall start from the morning. the ogls put up long skit (i dont noe the appropriate term) with each of the six clans' ogls introducing the legend behind our clan names. mine is corinth , clan colour blue :) n my ogls r brendon the big n fat one, xiaomin the small n crazy one (i hv mentioned) n joyce the motherly one. nicks given by xiaomin lor. haha. the theme is olympia: let the games begin!
then we went to our tutorial rm to start to noe the class. our civics tutor, ms lim may lang, who is a chi teacher, then came to talk to us. wa she solo talk can talk so long, amazing sia. told us alot of stuff. she went mountain climbing for 3wks!! n she looks not tt young, mayb 40s liaoz so is super li hai! more fit than me sia... haha
then we went to the hall for clan bonding. there was a short skit n 6 guys, 1 from each class in the clan was to act in it. they were told its a acting competition but it was actually a sexiest butt comp. then a guy was supposed to b the bad guy who has a bad habit of hitting his butt. another was the incredible hunk (initially thot its hulk then later the person reading the script clarified). both of them very gan3 act, then finally told them is sexiest butt comp they oso not paiseh at all.
then it was time or dancing again! this time i enjoyed it much more then the 1st time coz got no more perverted guy. my partner was yucheng from commonwealth. seems quite nice. definitely nicer than my 1st partner. we finished learning the 1st dance liaoz, veri fast sia, 2 days only, like only 3h total wif 1 teaching n over 600 learning. efficient teaching *thumbs up*
after lunch, we had games. supposed to get wet n dirty but my og. only got to play 3 games n had to stop coz it started to rain... didnt get to play the muddy games yet. ogls said tml will cont. i saw huiyan, then i called her n she was like shocked n excited. so funny. her voice changed then she say i still the same.
the ogls kept trying to pair up guys n gals. everythin oso muz like tt. haha
yesterday was 1st day of jc! haha, i m not that excited though. alot of admin stuff on what the snrs (yr 2s who are our orientation group leader aka ogl) called day 0 since there were mostly boring stuff.
the teachers entered the hall (like beauty contest back from the back door to the stage). then after a quite pointless going thru of all the teachers' names and subjects, the heads sat as a panel to give advice on choosing our subj combi and to answer qns.
some gave very detailed answers but that econs head gave only short replies... and didnt even answer the qns i wrote on a paper n passed up. (i did see her reading in then she juz put it down...) so mean...
in the end... i decided to take chem, phy, c maths n econs... mayb i change to f maths after 1st 3mths if i really cant score in econs
then my ogls brought us around the campus n when they saw the discipline mistress, they suddenly spoke softly, haha. n warned us abt her.
after subj combi registration, we went for lunch n i found the canteen sooo small compared to ny's. so squeezy some more...
then it was time for more admin talks at the hall... sit until my bottom super pain...
finally, the ogls began the fun part, but i didnt like it coz it was mass dance wif opp sex partners... and my partner ended up to be a peverted m'sian from kl who looks like an african. initially, i thought he was a nice guy but dont judge a book by its cover... sigh... he kept saying stuff like 'shit' and 'this sucks' and blah blah... i noe i cant dance lor... i dance like a robot... i cant coordinate... but u dont hv to be so mean rite!... sigh...
the ogls were great dancers, furthermore they choreographed 3 dances by themselves! all boy girl dances, then they not shy at all.
after teaching the mass dance, then there was a break but they super enthu, danced again for us. then it was time for learning the nj cheers. the guy who taught us the cheers quite poor thing, coz we quite dead so when we didnt give him the positive reply he needed, he juz said nvm, and continue to teach. then the ogls forever super enthu, kept starting the yah cheer even when the guy in charge ask them to stop coz the ch i n ch8 crew needed to do some filming.
then it was time to learn the school songs. that cheer guy (a malay) had a great voice man!!! after screaming and cheering so much, he still had a great voice. he sang for us the college anthem which was in malay coz that's the 'national' language. then they kept saying that the yr1s are great though we know ourselves that we r quite dead.
after learning the malay college song, the girl who taught the mass dance then sang the other college song, 'the national dream'. oso super great voice! then the other ogls shouted that she's the song diva. then she paiseh... haha. wah, so talented, can dance n sing so well.
i think both of the college songs are great, n the ogls r enthu even for college songs, stood up to sing some more.
finally, day 0 ended at 4pm... n when i reached home, i was so tired that i fell asleep on the sofa for 3h...
ahh.... another class gathering :) last nite! countdown! (but we didnt really counted coz too far from the countdownsss) juz gotta see the fireworks near esplanade :) n i recorded some parts on my cam!! heehee
as usual, we kept walking here and there and this time, we were split up for quite long b4 reuniting coz some ppl walked fast while others took own sweet time
3 class gatheringss in a row! isnt it cool! haha... let me put a photo here later

Other Recommended Readings by Marc
The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin – Few books have had as significant an impact on the way society views the natural world and the genesis of humankind.
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell – Gladwell looks at how a small idea, or product concept, can spread like a virus and spark global sociological changes. Specifically, he analyzes “the levels at which the momentum for change becomes unstoppable.”
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens – This is a tale that lingers on the topic of attaining and maintaining a disciplined heart as it relates to one’s emotional and moral life. Dickens states that we must learn to go against “the first mistaken impulse of the undisciplined heart.”
Lolita – This is the kind of book that blows your mind wide open to conflicting feelings of life, love and corruption… and at times makes you deeply question your own perceptions of each. The story is as devious as it is beautiful.
Getting Things Done by David Allen – The quintessential guide to organizing your life and getting things done. Nuff said.
How To Cook Everything by Mark Bittman – 900 pages of simple instructions on how to cook everything you could ever dream of eating. Pretty much the greatest cookbook ever written. Get through a few recipes each week, and you’ll be a master chef by the time you’re 30.
Honeymoon with My Brother by Franz Wisner – Franz Wisner had it all… a great job and a beautiful fiancée. Life was good. But then his fiancée dumped him days before their wedding, and his boss basically fired him. So he dragged his younger brother to Costa Rica for his already-scheduled honeymoon and they never turned back… around the world they went for two full years. This is a fun, heartfelt adventure story about life, relationships, and self discovery.
Self-note: Tip for my future business =D
give employees reasonably high pay to keep them- otherwise they are unlikely to stay loyal.
treat employees not according to how well they treat me but how conscientious they are at work
(of course, musn't expect them to only do work throughout the entire working hours -

17Jun11: "Something Borrowed" w Sandy Lisa (quite funny, somewhat meaningful wrt friendships. they didn't like the lack of sense for one part tho)
16Jul11: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" w Irene, Sweetee, Kw (not bad. i didn't understand some parts again but the humour and effects were pretty good)
Aug11 "Horrible Bosses" w Ma (she fell asleep! gosh. the movie was very crude i must say but there was the humour)
25Oct11: "The Three Musketeers" w H (i would rate it 3.5 for humour/intellectual language and 4 for action. it's by the same producer or director as Sherlock! but a bit less awesome albeit a good chill out movie)
5Nov11: "Real Steel" w Hl (action packed but not too hardcore for me. i liked that there was the father and son element and how the father eventually softened his heart and especially the part when charlie was having trouble telling max sth and max was so understanding saying "Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me." touching and demonstrates true fighting spirit)
12Dec11: "50/50" w L (adopting her words - a heavy topic put across in a lighthearted way, but not taking away d meaning. most of it was rather hollywood-ish trashiness but there were a couple of punch lines "u can't change ur parents, but u can change d way u respond to them.")
25Dec11: "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" w KY (ultimate action packed! super tense almost throughout the movie, and interesting Tom Cruise made it such that not everything happened smoothly - he would jump and misland and get all sorts of injuries..it's really the courage to jump without hesitation even though you are not sure you'll be alive after that. KY loved d movie and said she would watch it again!)
3Jan12: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" w KY (i love mystery (: and the witty sarcastic dialogues. good level of excitement with the action. didn't understand some parts as usual. i like Holmes and Watson they depict such a true pair of buddies ;D)
23Jan12: "You are the Apple of My Eye" w mom (now i understand why guys like this movie so much - the anxiety of chasing after a girl and the acts schoolboys do to get the girl's attention and hopefully affection. the initial fluttering and the subsequent quarrelling)
22Mar12: "The Iron Lady" w KY (really love Thatcher's sharp words. inspiring and thought-provoking, tho i was still left uncertain of what to do with my life, the movie is definitely an encouraging one)
29Mar12: "Barney's Version" w SJ (a funny movie of a screwed up life of a man who had 3 wives, smoked and drank but very heartwarming at the same time, the relationships with the dad and the 3th wife - quotable quotes!)
